Agriculture income should be taxable

               

  In India the agriculture income is exempted from tax. Certainly farmers should be relaxed from the taxes as much as possible. As farmers interest should be maintained in the farming because only this way Indian population can be fed. But why the matter of farm taxes are getting highlighted time to time is because of the misuse of agriculture income tax exemption.

The reality is that most of the farm income is being shown by those who has the primary income either from salary (for service class) or from some kind of business. Most of these people are showing the agriculture income just to get exempted from the taxes. Income from other primary source of these people is huge. In most of the cases these people either earn money from wrong means and to convert that money into white money they are trying to show this money from agriculture income or to save taxes from the huge income from their business.

On one hand government is concern to increase the farm income, so that farming  can be a profit making business and farmers could live a better life and this is most challenging part. But on other hand most of the people are showing their huge income on the name of agriculture income which is unjustifiable. This is a contradiction that several people are earning huge profit from the agriculture but several farmers (who are belongs to real farming community) are compel to commit suicide due to losses in agriculture.       

If agriculture income is such a huge when these people are not looking after the farms directly then why most of the farmers are struggling even to get livelihood from the farming when they are directly involve in agriculture and himself doing farming. So certainly showing huge agriculture income is a suspected matter.

To decide the farm income, government can also either check or take the declaration about all kind of income from those who are showing any income from agriculture. This will define the real source of incomes. Anyway, finally the government must not relax up to this much of taxes on the name of agriculture income. For the taxes, government should ensure justice so that no one should be exempted from the tax who wants to make their black money into white (culprits).

 One of the facilities should be extended for the farmers that all the farmers and farm labors should be covered in any special kind of life insurance scheme so that in case of any causality or disability to any farmer or any farm labor, farmer’s family can get some assistance. 

But on the name of agriculture profit the tax exemption should not be provided.
